Truth We Sold Away

By Andrew R. Duckworth

Truth was known once,
But we sold it away
All to pay for new,
New this and new that.
I wish I knew why.
And then I went to the market-
Lo and behold,
They we’re selling truth in a bottle
At a hefty price to pay
For something we once had.
But this was the new truth,
A shiny crystal to build belief,
And some might call that relief,
But I have seen snake oil before.
