Nothing Big in Smalltalk

By Andrew R. Duckworth

Flight carries me from here to there,
The flight of meaningful conversation
And not smalltalk that will
Be forgotten in a matter of minutes.
I have nothing against anyone,
But how are you honestly supposed
To answer “Some weather, huh?”
Talk to me about reality
And the threads woven through it.
Talk to me about the ‘why’
Of it all, about the ‘how.’
Talk to me about the ‘who’ in you.
Some might scoff
At the man on the street
Who has theory upon theory
On the brain.
But I’ll take that fella’s story
In a heartbeat.
