Truth Cycle

By Andrew R. Duckworth

“Pure gold is unaffected by the flame.”

Hindi Proverb
How many are honest today?
How many wake up with truth
Hanging from their lips?
Heavy, but bearable.
It’s a small lie, a white lie
Is what they say.
I’ve seen them building that house.
It’s about to collapse.
Poor foundation, brick by brick.
Poor foundation breaks it quick,
Plenty of debris left floating-
Put in the ears of children
And when they open their mouth,
As they do, the debris comes out.
