Peace in the Prairie (Folk Poet)

By Andrew R. Duckworth

In the hellish heat of summer,
My forehead sweats pools onto
My t-shirt as I attempt to grow
A garden of plants and ideas,

Flowing with thoughts pouring
Over my baseball cap,
Looking off to a peaceful sunset
Keeping the view alive.

Peace plays about in the prairie
Only after I have adequately
Extinguished the wildfires of
Turmoil branding my mind’s fields.
