Simile of Summer

By Andrew R. Duckworth

Like a sweltering summer day,
Diving into a clear water pool
To evade excessive heat.
Like a sweltering summer day,
Watering the garden with sweat,
Wondering when the river runs dry.
Like a sweltering summer day,
Fanning yourself with whatever
You hold in your hand.
Like a sweltering summer day,
Seeing the wildlife search
But find little water.
Like a sweltering summer day,
Praying for rain and cooler air
As the fireball still rains down
Rays of white hot gold.
Like a sweltering summer day.
