Eye Lids

By Andrew R. Duckworth

My eyes don’t appear
In the way they once did,
Wrinkles from sides to lids.
Praying time for sleep is near
The moment that I wake-
Missing my 20s for Heaven’s sake.
The mirror won’t lie
And I wonder why,
As I let out a sigh,
I let the stress creep in.
The moment I wake up
I fill my coffee cup
And from then until I sup
I’m as tired as I’ve ever been.
