By Andrew R. Duckworth
I’ve looked behind me
More than I would like to admit
Walking down this ole trail.
Yet, I realize there’s value
In examining my past footsteps,
The light ones, the deep ones,
Mud slung, dust laden,
Bent blades of grass,
The route this walk has taken me.
But if you spend the journey
Always looking behind,
You won’t see the trail ahead.
A healthy balance let’s you arrive
At your destination with wisdom,
The tool of experience,
The time to prepare,
Meeting the things
That need repaired.
Don’t hit the warning signs,
Observe and keep on.
