This Place II

By Andrew R. Duckworth

I like to see this place
In the rearview, the road ahead
Leading back to simple,
Where dreams are still fresh,
Still within reach.

I like to see city lights
Fade from my sight
And go to a place
Where you’re more than a number
And you’re called by name.

I like to see this place
Disappear from vision
And look up ahead
To the tunnel in the mountain
And where it leads instead.
