Our Nature

By Andrew R. Duckworth

This will be our protection,
The most biodiverse places,
The places with bears,
With leopards,
With slithering watchful serpents,
With insects that burrow
Beneath the skin, and poison.
This will be our protection
Once we drain the life,
Once we drain the decency
From the town and the city.
We will flee to safety
In a place of serenity,
But a place we barely know.
And just as we perverted society
So too will we pervert nature
Because our nature is destruction.
