A Loss for Words

By Andrew R. Duckworth

Hey there, words.
What do you say?
I had a hunch
You’d be absent today
And somehow
I’d have to find a way
To express
What I must convey.

Perhaps a tear
Or two might do,
A downward glance
For when I’m through.
I may know little
Beyond my view,
But I’m at a loss
Without you.

Context: this is honestly meant to be a bit more humorous than serious. However, I suppose it can be interpreted a number of ways. Through the humorous lens, it’s meant to be a short commentary on writer’s block and the power of words. Through the serious lens, it’s meant to be a short commentary on writer’s block and the power of words.
