Modern Architecture

By Andrew R. Duckworth

I know you felt it too-
The breakdown of everything,
The blandness, the barren,
The emptiness, the soulless-
The tossing up of concrete
With no carving, no inscription,
No thought for preservation.
Our future will navigate
A bare, bright, white room
Sterile of character
Only to find themselves
In the asylum we built
Void of culture and meaning-
A place of no inspiration.
