Meeting Point

What is your favorite place to go in your city?

By Andrew R. Duckworth

As much as I dislike city noise,
Sundance Square is unlike others,
Capturing charm and spirit.
There’s a stretch of space
Where you can look from building
To building and see indications
Of old amidst the chaotic of new,
History’s unwelcome replacements,
The meeting point of structure
And disorder, a solemn reminder
That old things die, but a sign
That old things are not yet gone.
One day, cities will be cemeteries
Of unmarked graves among graffiti.
