There is No Road that one Must Take Alone (a sonnet)

By Andrew R. Duckworth

There is no road that one must take alone
While knowing there is One who takes our hand
Through ragged trail of dust and jagged stone
That threatens death when one attempts to stand.
Our feet do tread upon such shaken ground
That tests the very wary hearts of men,
But He delights in those, the lost sheep found,
Who, in their struggles, call on Him again.
There is but one set of prints in the soil.
The Savior needs not feet in which to stride
As He goes with us through our grief and toil,
The always faithful and trustworthy guide.
So, while we battle evil here on Earth,
A savior has been with us since our birth.
