By Andrew R. Duckworth

Do you remember forgiveness?
That was a long time ago,
Maybe two thousand years ago.
When did we keep the Word sacred?
It has been so long
I no longer remember forgiveness.
Society tossed forgiveness
After ripping its limbs off,
Almost gleefully,
Like a wicked child
Removing the legs of a fly,
Forcing it to fly to its death.
If forgiveness was a man,
We might crucify Him.
And, here we are,
No real forgiveness in our hearts,
But playing our part
To destroy ourselves,
Because society tossed forgiveness
After crowning it with thorns
And mocking it all the way to its death.
