By Andrew R. Duckworth
There was a light we once knew
In earlier years.
I’m old enough to remember them.
Before we revered chains,
Before we listened to the outraged,
Before they came for us with cuffs,
Before we lit common sense ablaze,
And left the ashes to the wind.
But we demanded brighter,
Glitz and glamor,
Needed someone with a microphone
To tell us what’s needed.
There was a light we once knew,
But the days of sense are through.
So true!
