By Andrew R. Duckworth
It’s a long train ride
From Dallas to Tennessee,
Barreling along the countryside,
Plains as far as you can see.
But I long for that delta blues,
The kind that’ll tear hearts in two,
And the riverside
Where a soul longs to be free.
I can’t wait to see the Rendezvous.
I can’t wait to see the Memphis view.
I can’t wait to reach that place
With a smile like sunshine on my face
And greet the eyes of my family
Way out in Tennessee.
I’m on a country kick… sue me…
