The Harrowing of Hell

By Andrew R. Duckworth

They knew the He was coming,
So they tried to lock me in.
But they couldn’t do a damn thing
When He covered all my sins.
The belly started wailing
And the devils snarled and hissed
At the sight of the Redeemer
Who had names upon His list.
That light shown so bright
And the Darkness couldn’t hold
When the Savior started speaking
In words so loud and bold-

He said to me, “Come with me
To the place that’s been prepared
Where there’s no more death,
There’s no more reason to be scared.
Come with me, I’ll take away pain.
If you want life for eternity,
Come with me.”
