Leaving Footprints

In the garden we leave footprints.
They fade over time, but are there
To follow for a while.
Someday, we’ll stop stepping.
Those who followed will find
Themselves leading,
Leaving footprints
That fade over time.
May we never walk too close
To the shoreline.
