There’s a kitchen island,
A gas range for ideal heat-
Why did I start with food?
There’s something to be said
About food and home.

Beyond that, I’m not picky.
I’ll take it as long as it
Reminds me of goodness,
As long as it takes the
Best portions of my past
And transports them someplace new,
Away from the darkness
Of a million church ladies
Who make gossip their new gospel,
Who lie to entertain,
Who repeat yesterday’s refrain.
