Learning to Accept

By Andrew R. Duckworth

Let us live in a world, not of it,
And while we’re here, reflect
More than cast judgment.
Judgment is not ours.
Let us meet the self-obsessed
With a gentle smile, knowing our
Value is no greater than theirs,
That they should be loved.
Let us meet the angry heart
With a whisper, knowing we are
Also guilty from time to time,
That they should be comforted.
Let us meet the jealous soul
With a warm embrace, knowing
We have envied more than once,
That they can be understood.
And let us meet ourself
With enough reflection to see
The ills of our past, but enough
Grace to forgive ourselves
To embrace His forgiveness.
Let us meet the red flag
With a banner of greeting.
