By Andrew R. Duckworth
On the wind lingers a voice,
Small and quiet against the noise
Of the loud and boisterous world.
Many do not hear it, content
With the sound of their own,
But the trees carry it
And the plains dance in it,
And the canyons are carved by it,
And the mountains point to it.
The whispering winds of wisdom
Carry one on in the wilderness,
Those who have found themselves
Lost in the open field,
Looking for the way to freedom.
And, once it was found,
Once ears are opened beyond
The worldly noise,
Beyond the loud voices
Of oppression and disdain,
It is carried further,
Beyond the lips of the wise man,
Beyond the lips of the healer
And healed, beyond the lips
Of the ignored and abandoned
To the world.
