By Andrew R. Duckworth

And so here we are, looking upon stars
Who place importance in their fancy cars
Or their latest appearance leaving bars,
‘Caught’ in their latest photo op ‘off guard’
And then proclaiming that their life is hard
While they worry not about showing cards
For entrance to their opportunity.
We are our idols, as sad as it seems,
Caught up in acceptance, fulfilling dreams
Of sitting high on pedestals and gleam
While we worry about caring so late
About our interests that make us great
And then complain about the things we hate,
Our own fleeing from opportunity.
