Heaven’s Sound

By Andrew R. Duckworth

He offered out His hand
And I swatted it away.
He gave me all I need
And I thanked Him not a day.
He delivered me from pain,
Not a kind word did I say.
He gave me tools to know,
But ignorant I chose to stay.
But then He slapped me with Truth
And I fell to the ground
As I could see the wretched pain
In all the world around.

Once, I was a wayward man, but now
I listen to Heaven’s sound.
